A US State Department official said the deal was reached after North Korea agreed to provide full access to its controversial nuclear programme.
It probably doesn’t mean much because I think most Americans still consider North Korea as part of the “axis of evil.”

About shaunmiller
I have just completed a visiting position as an assistant professor at Dalhousie University. My ideas are not associated with my employer; they are expressions of my own thoughts and ideas. Some of them are just musings while others could be serious discussions that could turn into a bigger project.
Besides philosophy, I enjoy martial arts (Kuk Sool Won), playing my violin, enjoying coffee around town, and experimenting with new food.
I’m not sure what this accomplishes. What does N. Korea get out of not being on our ‘terror list.’
I’m sure it’s all political and so it really doesn’t do much for the common folk. From my perspective, I think it’s a form of recognition. They aren’t “officially” an enemy anymore, but are now considered neutral.
I’ve heard crazy stuff like Kim Jong Ill is dead, or close to it. Either way, the rumor is he no longer calls the shots, and hasn’t since July or August. Have you heard this?
I’ve heard the rumor. From what I know, he’s still alive, but I have no idea if he’s calling the shots or not.
